1. Gore Names General Chairman for Campaign

Al Gore today named Tony Coelho as General Chairman of Gore 2000. Tony’s leadership skills, strategic vision, tireless energy and devotion to public service will make a strong campaign even stronger. As General Chairman, Coelho will oversee the strong team led by Campaign Manager Craig Smith.

“I’ve known and admired Al and Tipper Gore since 1979 when the Vice President and I first served together in the House,” said Coelho, who represented California’s Central Valley from 1979-1989. “I am honored that my friend asked me to help him win this critical election. It is because I believe in Al Gore, the strength of his leadership, the power of his ideas and the values he brings to public life that I am going to do everything I can to help him become our next President.” Click here to read the press release on Tony Coelho
