Endorsement Event

On June 1, women from across America will join together to show their support for Al Gore. On issues of importance to American women - such as fighting for the Family and Medical Leave Act, protecting freedom of choice, or working to expand access to quality after-school care for all our children, Al Gore has been and continues to be a leader - a champion for women's issues.

2. Southeastern Iowa
Town Tour Details

Al Gore will take his campaign to southeastern Iowa from Saturday, May 15 through Monday May 17. He will open his Iowa campaign headquarters in Des Moines and visit citizens in Centerville, Ottumwa, Mt. Pleasant, Ft. Madison, and Burlington. The following is the list of the Gore 2000 activities scheduled for Iowa.

3. Massachusetts Mayors
Endorse Al Gore

Al Gore today (5/14) received the support of 22 Massachusetts mayors. The mayors announced their support of Al Gore's candidacy for President of the United States at a press conference in Springfield, MA.

Michael Albano, Mayor of Springfield, MA, hosted the press conference and said, "Vice President Gore understands the needs of urban America. His leadership on the issues of public safety, education and the environment will keep cities strong into the next century."

Raymond Mariano, Mayor of Worcester, MA, added, "Al Gore understands the needs of our cities. His leadership is needed to help strengthen and revitalize our neighborhoods. In particular, Al Gore will serve as a champion for our children. More than anything else, we need a President who has the courage to invest in our children and the vision to lead them into a brighter tomorrow."

Al Gore will be in Boston on May 17 to attend an Education Issues Forum and a Gala for Gore 2000. Read the press release on the Massachusetts Mayors' Endorsement.

4. Nick Baldick Named
State Director for
Gore 2000 in New Hampshire

Al Gore announced on Thrusday, (5/13) that he is naming Nick Baldick as State Director for Gore 2000 in New Hampshire. Gore 2000 is a presidential campaign committee formed by Vice President Gore.

"I couldn't be more pleased that Nick has agreed to serve as New Hampshire State Director," Gore said. "I have worked with Nick for a long time. His campaign experience, political skills, and work in New Hampshire make him the right person for the job. Throughout his work with Leadership '98 and both Clinton/Gore campaigns, Nick has shown extraordinary talent. New Hampshire plays a critical role in our electoral process and I am glad that Nick will be there to head up our effort."
